Ben Roethlisberger Sexual Assault Accusation

Ben Roethlisberger has done it again, allegedly.  Not even a full year after being accused of rape in Lake Tahoe, now he is being accused of sexual assault in Atlanta.  There are too many ins and outs to this story to make any judgments just yet, but even if Roethlisberger is completely absolved, he HAS to learn to avoid these situations.

Taking a closer look at this situation, Roethlisberger and friends, including Willie Colon, one of his offensive linemen, were hanging out in the VIP section of a night club.  Things happened, most of which will never be known for sure.  Hours later, Roethlisberger is being accused or sexual assault by a 20-year-old woman.  Why was a 20-year old drinking in a bar?  We don’t know, but her own illegal actions do not  have any bearing on those Roethlisberger might have committed.  With the outcome of events from “The Lake Tahoe Incident,” it is quite possible that Roethlisberger has once again done nothing wrong.  Based on the devilshirt Big Ben was wearing in the photos from the night, the only crime that was committed was theft.  Theft of a soul.  (See: Charlie Daniels, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.”)

It is not for us to decide whether or not Ben Roethlisberger is innocent or guilty.  It seems that in the court of public opinion, he already is guilty.  For those who have not made up their mind yet, here are some chunks of information:

Signs that he’s innocent:

Precedent had been set.  One charge was dropped.  This could be a similar case.
This is America where people are innocent until proven guilty.
As of yet, there has been no corroborative evidence.

Signs that he’s guilty:

  • Roethlisberger hired Ed Garland, the same attorney who got Ray Lewis out of his murder charge.
  • This IS the second similar charge in a short period of time.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.

The so-called experts are already talking about suspensions, and that as about as far as most sports fans will be concerned.  Many (Including Stephen A. Smith) are already talking about suspensions even if he is found not guilty.  If it winds up he’s guilty, or there is some sort of deal arranged, a suspension is warranted.  If he is found innocent, then it would be unfair to suspend the man.  He needs to stop putting himself in situations where such accusations can be made, but it is wrong to punish someone for no wrongdoing.
