Rex Ryan is a Big Fat Idiot

OK, so Rex Ryan is no Rush Limbaugh, but he does have Limbaugh beat in terms of body fat percentage. The two have more than portliness in common. Ryan is making more of a scene than most would want from a head coach, much like Limbaugh got himself into trouble with his comments about Donovan McNabb. Players get into trouble all the time, and it is usually the coach who sticks up for the player, issues the punishment, or whatever needs to be done to get things back to normal.

Ryan is guilty of two completely unrelated embarrassments for the team. The first happened during the season, when he admitted to being upset about the Jets elimination from the playoffs. Of course, they weren’t eliminated, and eventually won their way to the AFC title game. Shortly after that game, Rex was pictured flipping off fans at a Mixed Martial Arts event in Miami. For this, he apologized, and was fined 50,000 dollars. It later came out that Rex had been spat upon moments before delivering the middle finger. Things are basically back to normal, for now. But Rex better keep winning, because losers do not get a pass.

Tom Brady fathered an illegitimate child, something which is generally looked down upon in our society, and yet, that first son of his hardly ever gets mentioned. (In Boston no less, where Bridget Moynahan may not deserve a Scarlet Letter exactly, but our very own Reverend Dimsdale gets off free.) Why? Because Tom Brady is handsome and has three rings.

Ray Lewis killed a guy, but that never gets brought up by the media. Why? Because Ray Lewis found Jesus and won a Super Bowl for the Baltimore Ravens. Anytime someone DOES bring up his alleged murder, Lewis plays the, “I feel sorry for him” card. Just ask Hines Ward.

The afore mention Donovan McNabb, on the other hand, is constantly berated for any foolish thing that comes out of his mouth. The worst of his offenses was to say that he didn’t know a game could end in a tie. Foolish? Yes. Anywhere near as bad as what the others have done? Not even close. So why does McNabb get lambasted, while others roam free? He has a hand, completely ring-free.

So, what does Rex Ryan have to learn from all this? He needs to do one of two things. He can either clean up his act, think before he speaks, etc. Not only will this not happen, but it would also make for a less interesting Rex Ryan. Option two, is to keep on winning. People love a winner for his foibles. If the Jets don’t make the playoffs next year, look for Ryan to do or say something stupid, and for people to turn on him.
