Chargers End Nine-Year Relationship with LaDainian Tomlinsonby Sarge
Not long ago, LaDainian Tomlinson was the best running back in all the land. Today, he is looking to see where he will call home for the 2010 NFL season. The San Diego Chargers have officially parted ways with Tomlinson after he was selected in the first round nine seasons ago.
During the Chargers’ run in the 2007 playoffs, Tomlinson suffered a barrage of injuries that saw him spend more time on the stationary bike than field of play. The downward spiral continued through 2008 thanks to the emergence of multi-purpose threat Darren Sproles.
He will likely draw some interest in the free agent market following its March 5th commencement, but if history is any indication, Tomlinson’s best days are behind him. Despite the overall disappointing post season history that Tomlinson holds, he will one day have a spot in the Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio. In 2007, “LT2” passed the great Walter Payton on the all-time touchdown list.

Tomlinson amassed 12,490 yards and 138 touchdowns with the Chargers. Unfortunately, the veteran scoring machine has been more of the former than the latter over the course of the last year, racking up only 730 yards through 2009.
